How should I prepare for my first lash set appointment?
Plan to be here for about 2 hours.  You have over 100 lashes on each eye and we’ll want to place a lash on every viable lash.  Make sure all your eye makeup is removed especially mascara.  Do not use any oily products to remove your makeup. We need clean dry lashes to create a strong bond with the lash extensions. You’ll need to keep your lashes dry for 24 hours after your application of lashes whether you are getting a full set or a fill so you might want to shower before coming in so you can keep them dry for the next day. Come in ready for a relaxing nap!

I have lashes on from another lash studio.  Can I come to Glimpse LASH® for a lash fill?
Yes!  We love new clients but we do want to make sure that we are filling lashes in a healthy manner. Lashes that were applied using too much adhesive and are stuck together are a challenge to fill. Lashes that are too heavy and long for your natural lashes to hold can cause stress and breakage to your natural lashes so we want to be very careful not to compromise that. A Glimpse LASH® stylist may recommend removal of the lashes and start over with a new set if necessary.

I have a special event coming up and I would love to have beautiful lashes.  When should I have my lashes applied?
If you have something special coming up such as a wedding or a vacation we advise that you have your full set done at least a week or more beforehand.  Allergic reactions to eyelash extension products is rare but we’d feel better if you didn’t take a chance before a special event.  A good idea is to schedule a complimentary consultation with us.  We can talk with you about the process and if you have any concerns about a reaction we can place a couple small lashes on each eye as a test just to make sure.

After I have my first set of lashes applied what maintenance is required?
You’ll want to wait for 24-48 hours before getting your extensions wet, going into a sauna, steam room, hot tub, using a tanning bed or spray tan. If your lashes are frequently exposed to steam, your lashes might not last as long.  Do not twist or pull at your eyelash extensions. Don’t use mascara because mascara shortens the life of your extensions and can attract bacteria. If you must use mascara use one that is oil free and never use waterproof mascara. Try not to sleep on your eyelashes or get a silk pillowcase which will help.  Gently brush through your eyelashes daily and be sure to keep them clean using an oil free lash cleanser. Do not use an eyelash curler on your lashes.

How often should I come in for lash fills?
Your lash stylist will advise you when you should return for lash fills.  Generally, every 3 weeks works well for most clients and some prefer to come in more often.

How do I clean my eyelash extensions and remove eye makeup?
Keeping our lashes clean is very important for the health and growth of your natural lashes and we want to keep them strong so they can continue to hold your eyelash extensions.  Use a mild, OIL FREE makeup remover.  We sell eyelash cleansers that is made for extensions.  With the tip of your finger add a small amount of cleanser and gently rub the top of your lashes near your eyelid then gently rinse.  Again, never get your lashes wet for 24 hours after application of a full set or a fill.  You can use your lash brush to gently brush out your lashes.  Using your blow dryer on low/cold setting for just a couple seconds will safely dry your lashes also.

How do I choose a lash stylist?
Here at Glimpse LASH® we train our own lash stylists.  We have in house trainers with years of experience that work with our lash team every day.  Delivering awesome lashes requires a lot of experience.  Choose a stylist that is licensed and understands about safety and sanitation, after all, these are your eyes.

What about tipping?
Our staff graciously accepts tips.  Generally tips range from 15% to 20%. You may tip before your leave on a credit card or with cash. We do not offer an area on our online booking system because we want tips to be given after we provide you with exceptional service and the gorgeous lashes you are expecting.  We never want to assume that tips are mandatory – in our world it’s just good manners to tip before you leave but only if you are happy and satisfied!   We do appreciate it.

What about lash shedding?
The average person has between 100-120 natural lashes per upper eyelid.  Naturally your lashes shed about 2-5 natural lashes per day.  Therefore, you will need to come in for lash fills because your natural lashes shed and grow out. If you use 3 as an average of lashes lost per day, in 3 weeks you will lose about 63 lashes.  We don’t recommend going beyond 3 weeks before you have a fill.

Are eyelash extensions unhealthy or damaging to my natural lashes?
The biggest myth is that lash extensions ruin your own lashes. They do not. If applied correctly and properly, they are safe and do not ruin the health of your natural lashes. Be sure not to rub your eyes or tug or pull on the extensions because this can cause lash loss and even damage to your natural lashes.

Are there any activities I should avoid with my lash extensions?
It’s very important that you do not get your lashes wet for 24-48 hours after a fill or your first lash application.  After that you can do whatever you would do with your natural lashes.  Always be careful not to rub your eyes and keep any oily products away from your lashes as this will loosen the adhesive bond of the lashes.  And yes, you can swim (goggles are a good idea for prolonged and frequent swims) and shower.

What is the difference between silk and synthetic lashes?  What about different eyelash brands?
Most eyelashes are synthetic and are sometimes referred to as synthetic mink or synthetic silk.  Synthetic lashes are made from a polyester material and with the great popularity of eyelash extensions synthetic lashes are so natural these days.  We use synthetic mink lashes. We’ve researched different brands of lashes and some are stiffer and less natural than others but we chose a lash manufacturer that provides beautiful natural looking lashes.  The most important thing to remember about eyelash extensions is that even though a quality lash is important application is even more important.

Can I use lash growth products with my eyelash extensions?
Yes!  Just wait 24-48 hours after a fill or new lash set before you use any lash growth product.  Your lash stylist can advise you of specific lash growth products that are compatible with your eyelash extensions.

I have heard that I must take a break from eyelash extensions to let my lashes rest is this true?
If your lashes have been applied properly and you have no irritation you can leave your lashes on as long as you choose.  Some people have worn eyelash extensions for years with no problems at all.

If I wear strip lashes that I apply myself will I get the same look with eyelash extensions?
Not necessarily.  Strip lashes do not sit right on top of your lashes.  They are applied to the skin on your upper lid so that don’t really need too much support.  Again, the health of your lashes is of huge importance.  We inspect your natural lashes to determine, based upon the look you prefer, how long and how heavy of a lash we can place on your own lashes.

Can I still wear mascara with eyelash extensions?
DO NOT USE OIL-BASED OR WATER-PROOF mascara. Waterproof mascara or any type of oil based mascara will dissolve the bonding agent and shorten the life of your eyelash extensions causing them to fall off sooner. Care also needs to be taken in washing off the mascara and only use a water based eye makeup remover.  Keep in mind that if you use mascara when you come in for fills your lash stylists may need to spend time cleaning the mascara off your lashes in order to fill them and again, we want to have clean lashes to get application of new lashes that will stay.
